Triangular Prism is an editorial project consisting primarily of the publication of essays on this site, and sporadically of the publication of printed booklets collecting selected material from the site.
Originally, I conceived TP as an independent literary quarterly with myself as general editor, in a desire to foster certain qualities in essayistic pieces that have works of cinema as central subject. Through my own writing about films, to which I started devoting more energy a few years ago, I guess I developed a sort of philosophy of approach that I thought could also have validity as an editorial mission. But the concept of a formal periodical publication didn’t prove viable, due largely to a paucity of submissions received after the launch, and perhaps a little to the general cumbersomeness of these types of endeavours.
My now altered purpose with Triangular Prism is to share my writing, publishing complete essays (of varied lengths) on this site, hoping they may provide valuable reading experiences. In the future, if the project, such as it is, manages to reach an audience and establish itself in some fashion, it may function to publish other writers as well, thus also fulfilling the initial intention.
Many texts will be published here for the first time, a few will have had first publication in other venues (which will be credited accordingly). For practicality, as each new piece is put up here on the site, it will be announced on TP’s social media (IG and YT).
I write continually and only about works whose beauty and distinctiveness compel me to take notice and consider them more deeply.
I hope you enjoy Triangular Prism.
